 The National Arts & Letters Commission was created in 1973 under the Economic Development Thrust.  Sorors Lena Horne and Leontyne Price served as honorary co-chairs.  The goal of the National Commission of the Arts & Letters has been to advance the black experience through the arts and to recognize the contributions of Black people and lift them up.  The Arts & Letters Committee of the El Paso Alumnae Chapter plans activities to carry out the vision of the National Arts & Letters Commission.
